The most popular homes on espc.com in September 2024
Discover the ten properties that were most popular with househunters on espc.com in September 2024, gathering 65,000 online views between them over the course of the month.
As we’ve seen consistently over the last few months, houses were very much in-demand compared to flats, with eight of the ten properties being houses and just two flats making the list. Long-term homes with extra space were also popular, with six of the properties offering three or more bedrooms, hinting at a continuing strong interest from family buyers in the market, perhaps looking to move home before Christmas.
A mix of locations made the top ten list this month, dominated by Edinburgh, where four of the properties were located (two of which were in Portobello). East Lothian saw three properties reaching the top four, while properties in Midlothian and West Lothian also drew considerable interest from property seekers.
In a change from the previous month’s figures, there was a more even spread of budgets searched for during September. Four of the properties were priced above £450,000, with most of the homes priced between £150,000 and £300,000, indicating a higher proportion of first-time buyers and young families looking for starter homes throughout the month.
Half of the homes were already under offer before the end of the month, in a clear sign that buyers want to move fast and be settled in their new homes before the end of the year. This month’s most popular properties were also all brought to the market in turnkey condition, hinting that buyers are looking for a smooth and easy move into their new home ahead of the festive season.
Paul Hilton, CEO of ESPC, said: “The properties making up the top ten this month present an interesting, and very clear, picture of the market at the moment. Family homes continue to dominate the list, but this month’s properties are in a more affordable price bracket compared to the most popular homes we saw in August, which is a great sign that we’re seeing higher numbers of young buyers looking to move up the ladder.
“The fact that half of the properties have already been snapped up is unsurprising at this time of year; we know buyers and sellers alike are keen to move quickly as we head into autumn, as everyone hopes to be settled in their new home by Christmas. There’s a great mix of locations this month, with properties in Midlothian and West Lothian also attracting significant interest from buyers on the hunt for their dream homes.”
