The ten properties that captured the most attention on espc.com in May collectively amassed over 65,000 views, highlighting a buoyant month for market interest and buyer engagement across a range of locations and price points.

See the 10 most viewed properties

Nine of the ten most viewed properties were houses, once again demonstrating that demand remains strongly in favour of more spacious homes. The only flat in the top ten was a one-bedroom property, with the rest offering multiple bedrooms - eight of the ten properties featured three bedrooms or more, indicating that buyers continue to prioritise long-term, family-oriented homes over smaller, starter properties.

Spanning from a modest £139,500 to a premium £1,000,000, the top properties showcased a broad spectrum of buyer budgets. The average asking price stood at £507,950, with just two homes priced below £250,000, further supporting the trend toward larger, more expensive homes with greater space and future potential. All ten properties were listed using the “offers over” pricing strategy, reflecting ongoing seller confidence.

Edinburgh retained its status as the most sought-after location, with four properties in the capital making the top ten. East Lothian followed closely with three homes, again reinforcing the popularity of this scenic coastal region. Fife, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders each contributed one property to the list, underscoring the wide geographical interest among buyers across south-east Scotland.

Reflecting buyers’ urgency to move before the summer months, nine out of the ten properties were already under offer by the end of May, leaving just one still available. This swift pace of activity mirrors the market's confidence and readiness, as all of the top properties were listed in move-in-ready condition.

Paul Hilton, CEO of ESPC, commented:

“The latest insights from espc.com show a continued strength in the market for family homes, with nine of the ten most viewed properties being houses. It’s clear that buyers are prioritising space, with the majority of these homes offering three or more bedrooms, and four properties boasting four bedrooms or more. This points to a long-term mindset, where buyers are thinking beyond first-time purchases and investing in homes that will suit their evolving needs.”

“While Edinburgh continues to lead in terms of popularity, East Lothian is proving popular with buyers seeking a balance between connectivity and coastal charm. It’s also encouraging to see demand stretching beyond the capital, with homes in Fife, Midlothian and the Borders gaining strong attention. With an average asking price exceeding £500,000, it’s evident that buyers with serious purchasing power are actively searching for the right properties.”

“The fact that nine of these highly viewed properties were already under offer by the month’s end is a clear indicator of robust buyer confidence. Combined with the consistent use of the ‘offers over’ pricing strategy, the data points to a strong and competitive market as we head into summer. Sellers can feel optimistic about listing in the coming months, while buyers should be prepared to act quickly when they find the right home.”
