Lauriston is an area in Edinburgh City Centre close to the Capital's business districts, universities and courts and bordering Tollcross and the Old Town. Adjacent to the large park area known as The Meadows, it was once home to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but is now undergoing a major re-development known as Quartermile, which incorporates apartments, hotels, restaurants and office accommodation. Other houses in Lauriston range from traditional tenement flats to terraced homes.

Health

There are currently two dentists to choose from in Lauriston: Lauriston Dental Care and Bite Dentistry. There are also two GPs to choose from too: City Clinic and Meadows Medical Practice. Chalmers Hospital is located along the eastern boundary of Lauriston. 

Food Shopping

There is no large supermarket in Lauriston itself. Though residents can still pick up a weekly shop from the likes of Tesco Express, Co-op and Sainbury's Local. There is also a health food store, Real Foods, on Brougham Street. There is also Oriental Supermarket on Lauriston Place. 

Other Shopping

Lauriston itself is home to a generous selection of independent shopping. Residents are also only a 20 minute walk from the high-street shops that line Princess Street.
