Saltcoats is a small town on the west coast of North Ayrshire. Its name comes from the town's earliest industry when salt was harvested from the sea water. The town today is much better known for its picturesque harbour and golden, sandy beaches set around Irvine Bay. Popular attractions in Saltcoats include the Apollo Cinema, Basebowl Ten Pin Bowling and the Saltcoats Town Trail where you can learn about the town’s heritage.
