About Longstone

Longstone is a popular residential suburb of Edinburgh bordering Saughton, Wester Hailes and Slateford. Longstone's most dramatic features are the Slateford Aqueduct which carries the Union Canal and the railway viaduct underneath along which the Water of Leith runs. Housing in Longstone is a mixture of terraces and flats.

Local shops cater for day-to-day requirements with an Asda Superstore at Chesser. The Gyle Centre which offers an extensive range of high street names including Next, Gap and Marks & Spencer is a short drive away. Good schooling at all levels can be found locally. Leisure pursuits include Kingsknowe Golf Course, Craiglockhart Sports Centre and Greens Health Club.

A regular bus service operates to the City Centre and trains are available from the nearby Slateford Railway Station. Edinburgh City Bypass is within close proximity giving swift and easy access to major motorway networks and Edinburgh International Airport.
