Langholm sits just eight miles north of the Scottish/English border, on the A7 between Edinburgh and Carlisle. Known locally as the ‘Muckle Toon’, it’s home to around 2,000 residents, and is notable for its scenic location, surrounded by four hills. Historically, Langholm was a key location for the Border Reivers, and in more recent years, it was an important centre for the textile industry with 22 mills in the town. Today, Langholm is well-known for its annual Common Riding, and it also plays host to a yearly outdoor festival, as well as an art and music festival.
