ESPC has had an amazing year doing fundraising for our chosen charity, the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity, raising £6,718 thanks to a number of different activities.

Throughout the year we have done lots of great activities including the ESPC quiz, our Winter Ball, taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon and many other small things which all contributed towards our total.

This money raised for the charity, formerly Sick Kids Friends Foundation, will go towards The Day Case Waiting Area in the new children's hospital in Little France. This is one of the busiest wards in the hospital with over 7,000 children visiting this ward. Children often have to arrive early for their appointment or procedure, wait for a long time, and are not allowed to eat. William Warren, who is a furniture designer, has been appointed to design all the play areas and waiting rooms in the hospital which will be based around the Edinburgh skyline. The waiting area will have comfier seats for all the family and distractions to keep children occupied and help to alleviate the stress and anxiety which often comes waiting for a procedure.

Leanne Watson, acting head of marketing, said: "We've had a great fun working with the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity to raise money for such a worthy cause. They are undertaking a huge project when they move to Little France, and with funds that we raise, we can help to make the place more homely so it's not so daunting for the kids and they can concentrate on getting better and being comfortable."

Because it's a local charity, we felt we could contribute to something that will benefit the local community and it can touch so many people. Every year in July ESPC chooses a new charity to support for the year, and will be announcing our next charity of the year soon.
