If the grey skies part, have a home BBQ!
There are many ways to get in a few summer, 'at home' BBQ's. You can invest in a gas burner for a serious week-end feast, disposable BBQ sets which involves no cleaning or even go the full mile and build a clay oven in your garden. We're so excited about home BBQ's that we've come up with a tasty recipe for you to try at home.
Sticky BBQ Chicken Wings
- 12 chicken wings
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp orange marmalade
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the marinade. Add the chicken wings and toss until well coated with the marinade. Set aside for 2-3 hours or, if possible, overnight. BBQ the chicken for about 20 minutes over medium heat, turning frequently and basting with the marinade.
You can substitute the chicken for vegetables or other types of meat but this particularly goes well with white meat.
Let us know how it goes by posting a picture on Twitter @espc or even by sharing it on our ESPC Facebook page.
Chiquito: New BBQ Menu
If you fail to get a good day to do an at home BBQ then why not go somewhere that will allow you to eat off the grill anytime of the year?
Chiquito has just launched their new BBQ menu and kindly invited a few of the ESPC team to try it out. A totally scrumptious set of main meals and deserts were served to us and our waitress Katie made sure that we had exactly what we wanted for our whole meal.
Amy Walker (right), Business Development Co-ordinator at ESPC, is still talking about her meal a week later.
"Everyone loves a barbeque, but in Scotland they can often be a bit of a rarity. However with Chiquito's new summer sizzler menu we didn't have to wait until the sun shone to enjoy some tasty barbeque treats. We popped in for a bite to eat after a long day in the office and were greeted by the very friendly Katie. She couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we had just what we needed, as well as recommending some of her favourites.
We opted for the skewered chilli chicken and chorizo dog and the Acapulco chicken fajitas. Both certainly filled a gap and were very tasty, after we both swore we were completely full and could not manage another thing. However, out came the desert menu and we couldn't resist the chocolate brownie sizzler and the churros.
We would definitely recommend that if you have a barbeque craving which the Scottish weather isn't letting you satisfy, pop into Chiquito's - just make sure you a very hungry before you go!".
