Three miles east of Annan, Eastriggs was built, like nearby Gretna, during World War One to house factory workers in the newly built munitions factory. 30,000 workers came from across the Commonwealth, and this is reflected in the town’s street names, which include Sydney Road, Ottawa Road and Auckland Walk. The history of Eastriggs is detailed in the Devil’s Porridge Museum, and today, the town is home to nearly 2,000 residents. The town is well-served by regular trains passing through nearby Annan station, and is also a short drive from the M74.
