Interior tips

Linsey Lindley from Livingston Designer Outlet provides her style tips to help put your personal stamp on your new home without breaking the bank.

Make a statement

The simplest way to make a statement is to use printed wallpaper to create a feature wall. Designer wallpaper specialist Graham & Brown has a style to suit every taste, from bold florals to subtle oriental prints. One of this year’s most surprising colour combinations is grey and yellow; this spring floral inspired print creates a back drop for bold accessories and grey furnishings. The dining room doesn’t have to be a formal space - mix things up with a bright coloured feature wall, like this bold floral print, and bring the look together by using the main colour in furnishings.

Invest in essentials

Many of us collect kitchen utensils along the way leaving us with a selection of worn out pots and mismatch dining sets, start afresh by investing in kitchen essentials. ProCook has everything needed for a pro-cook in the making, from chef knives to steel pan sets. Another kitchen staple is a cast iron oven dish. The most iconic casserole dish around comes from Le Creuset - they will stand the test of time and they come in a range of bright colours making them perfect for both cooking and presentation.

Home spa

One room many of us overlook is the bathroom yet it’s the ideal room to create an at-home spa. With hectic lifestyles a private sanctuary is a welcome option for any home. Set the scene with Egyptian cotton towels from Christy and scented candles as a touch of understated luxury goes a long way. If you want to truly replicate spa-like opulence at home, be brave and refurbish the entire room with dark print wallpaper matched with dark tiles, and finish off the look with a Chrystal chandelier for a truly indulgent space.

Time for bed

Last but by no means least, is the bedroom. The Sleep Council states that a well supported mattress will not only help provide a good night’s sleep but plays an important role in preventing back pain. Tempur are leaders in specialist mattresses designed to relieve pressure and create an optimal environment for the perfect night’s sleep. And finally, there is something about white bed linen that shouts hotel luxury – by simply adding a throw and additional pillows you’ll transform your bed in to a sleep haven.
