Solicitors Property Centres (SPCs) in Scotland have joined forces to launch a new national property web site - spcscotland.co.uk. The new site goes live on 30th November – St Andrew’s Day.

SPC Scotland logoThe news comes as SPC Scotland, a joint initiative amongst solicitors' property centres across Scotland, released figures showing that their solicitor members had sold over 17,000 homes worth more than £3 billion in the first nine months of 2011.  That's almost 100 sales every working day.

SPCs operate from the Borders to the Highlands and almost invariably advertise for sale the lion's share of property in their respective areas.  Now, the majority of centres have set up a web site bringing together all of the properties they are marketing in one place.  The new site features tens of thousands of homes for sale, many in areas that are poorly served by other property web sites.

While buyers and sellers will know their local SPC web site well, spcscotland.co.uk provides a focal point for buyers searching for property in Scotland wherever they may be based.  For many of these properties, spcscotland.co.uk is the only national property web site on which they feature.

Malcolm Cannon, Chairman of SPC Scotland and Chief Executive of Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre (ESPC), said: "The new website is a major development that will be enormously helpful to buyers and sellers alike. We know from research that it's important to maximize your property's exposure at a local level and then across the rest of Scotland as the vast majority of buyers will come from either of these groups.  By selling through a solicitor estate agent, your house will be featured not only through your local property centre, but now on the national website as well.

House hunters will find the site very easy to use, giving them access to detailed information and photographs for over 14,000 properties for sale across Scotland.

And it seemed somehow appropriate to launch the new site on St Andrew's Day - an important date on the Scottish calendar!"

The latest figures collated by Solicitors Property Centres (SPC) Scotland show that over 17,000 Scottish properties with a combined value of over £3 billion were sold in the 9 months to the end of September 2011.

Malcolm Cannon, explained:"These latest figures show that, despite the current economic downturn, there has been a steady flow of properties changing hands across the country.  There are still more properties for sale than there are buyers, so it's tough on sellers at the moment.  But the data we've gathered tells us that houses are selling - as long as the seller is realistic about their asking price.  Your solicitor estate agent is in a good position to offer advice on this crucial aspect."
