What is it like to live in Edinburgh South?

Edinburgh South is home to some of the most coveted homes in the city. Bruntsfield, Marchmont, the GrangeMorningsideComiston, Fairmilehead and Mortonhall are just a few of these well-regarded areas. As well as being home to high-end homes, Edinburgh South is also home to recreational parks, excellent shopping facilities and good schools. 

Cricket enthusiasts will be delighted to know they have their very own Edinburgh South Cricket Club on their doorstep at Inch Park. This welcoming group run four teams in the East of Scotland Cricket Association league as well as participating and hosting various ‘friendlies’. They are founding members of the Inch Park Community Sports Club which is recognised as one of Scotland’s most exciting sporting projects. With a youth programme in seven primary schools and one secondary in the vicinity there is ample opportunity for aspiring young cricketers to improve their talents.

The ever popular Meadows, with seasonal tennis, as well as the range of hills nearby provide great spaces in which to take in some exercise. Swimmers can enjoy the recently upgraded facility at the Royal Commonwealth Pool and golf is a popular sport at great venues such the Braid Hills Golf Course.

Edinburgh is well-known for its higher education and attracts both regional and international students. The University of Edinburgh and Napier University both have campuses within Edinburgh south, making this an ideal location for students or families with older children. For younger children, on top of the state schools there are two independent schools in the area: George Watson's College in Morningside and Merchiston Castle School in Colinton.
